Tanglewood Group

The Tanglewood group started after the six of us finished a City & Guilds course and wanted to carry on working together. Most weeks we meet in a hired room in Odiham. We have worked on many projects but our main aim each year is to enter something different into The Festival of Quilts.

The first time we entered a group quilt called ‘Beach Huts’ and excitingly it won first prize. Although we all made different huts they were joined together to make one quilt.

In the following years we have made separate items but still as a group entry in the ‘Quilt Creations’ category.

‘Deckchairs’ was the first and included a mermaid and various other beach items. My chair is reversible and has seagulls on one side and beach scenes on the other. The beach scene is the side that most people like the best.

The next year we did ‘Umbrellas’ and mine is made from quilted leaves which are hand dyed and painted. The colours change with the seasons as as they progress around the umbrella.umbrella made from quilted sycamore leaves in colours of the seasons

Last year we did a fun piece based on the ‘Misfits’ games we had as children. My piece is the clown.
