The weather this week up here in the Yorkshire Dales is wonderful. Sun, breeze, massive thunderstorm, all the things I like about our British climate. However the gills and streams are a little dry for this time of year!

We had lunch by a stream yesterday and were excited to find a British orchid. Today on a walk we found thousands which is nothing we’ve encountered before. I’m pretty sure we found three different species if not four. Difficult to tell apart without a guide which we didn’t have with us and the internet was left far behind.

We have long loved Yorkshire, the North York Moors, The Dales and The North Pennines. All very different but lovely in their own ways.
